An all-inclusive semi-competitive Minecraft event tailored to feature SMPs of all sizes, all at once! 

Q: Do participants need to have previous event experience or a minimum skill level?

A: Absolutely not! We only require the basic standards of being a good human being and having a role as part of an SMP! In fact, we prefer that most team members have limited skill in the competitive scene, as it allows for a more social and relaxed experience. If you are good at PVP or parkour though, don't worry, there is some dangerous competition as well!

Q: Who developed SMP Showdown?

A: SMP Showdown is entirely owned, built, and operated by a passionate group of creators, many of whom represent their own SMPs in the event! The full roster of admins and builders can be found in the "Developers" tab.

Q: Do the admins/staff play in the event?

A: Most admins and staff do not participate in the event. If they wish to, we are requiring that staff stop being active staff for at least one month leading up to the event, so that they do not have the chance to learn maps or practice. There may be a time when an admin team is made for a special event, but this is not a regular occurrence.

Q: How do you determine what SMP teams play in events?

A: We have a system to help calculate the order of what teams get prioritized! Get ready for math... the choice ranking (CR) = 1.5*A + 0.2*B, where A is the number of events it has been since a team last played (starting at 0) and B is the placement that team got the last time they played. New teams get a base of A=2. For example, a team that placed 1st two events ago would have CR = 1.7, while a team that got 8th one event ago would have CR = 1.6! The higher your score is, the more likely you are to play. This is meant to balance the strength of teams with how often teams play.
